This Week's Top Five: Favourite Patisseries!

This week, we sent our first weekly "Notes from the Underground" tips sheet. Below is the text, on five favourite patisseries on the Underground. We'd love to hear your opinions - let us know what you think.First, a HUGE thank you to all of you for being our founding mavens – we are so thrilled to have all of you part of our community, and have loved all of your reviews. Keep ‘em coming! And spread the word – the more people who are part of the Underground, the better the collective wisdom.

Now, onto something yummy. This week’s Top Five: Favourite Patisseries! Agree with the verdict on these? Have we missed any? Write a review and let us know!

  1. St. Germaine French Patisserie, in Redfern: Raves about this authentic French patisserie – Trismc writes with a warning: “If you visit this unassuming little patisserie...you'll soon be back: again and again.” Special shout-outs from the mavens for the mudcake and “bouche de noel”.
  2. Organic Republic Bakery, in Bondi: Mavens Jo C Jo and 76hg are enthusiastic about the service, and baked goods (and 76hg would know as she is an expert baker!). Favourite items include the danishes and scones – and the bread.
  3. Bourke Street Bakery, in Surry Hills: Gets lots of positive reviews for its products - sydneysimon describes “lining up like a junkie for my hit” for treats like the chocolate and cherry biscuits. The verdicts on service are mixed - what do you think?
  4. Brot, in Clovelly: Open early, this spot gets stars from mavens for its pastries (that come in bite sizes) and fabulous bread. Sounds great – Lea’s son asked “can we come here for breakfast every morning?”
  5. Black Star Pastry, in Newtown: Oohs and aahs over the tarts, pastries, and pies.Darlo_local tells us "you'll break your dieting rules and feel good about it"!
