This week, as always, we send our latest "Notes from the Underground" tips sheet: on Five Favourites of Surry Hills, as voted by you, our mavens. Have we missed your favourite? Want to weigh into the debate on one of these? Log in or Join us and have your say!

Surry Hills is one of our favourite neighbourhoods at Customer Underground, and ground zero for our customer revolution, so this week we bring you five favourites in that great neighbourhood, to while away an afternoon this weekend (or during the week).  Have we missed your fave?  Review it!

  1. Title:  This Crown Street music store gets mavens’ thumbs-up for “old school” service and selection; it’s “small but packs a musical punch” says Pablo.  Died on Hold describes it as “real retro pleasure” and “recommended”.
  2. Mushu:  Mavens rave about this bag/clothes/accessories shop run by a former lawyer – for the styles, the service, and the reasonable prices; Darlo_local calls it a “life saver for last-minute gifts”.
  3. Vampt:  If you’re looking for stylish furniture, mavens tip this spot for its huge range of stylish Scandinavian furniture, and the service.  Tristan says “buying furniture this way isn’t cheap, but it is very satisfying”.
  4. Tessuti:  Mavens give props to Tessuti for its “fabulous range of dress fabrics” though marks for service are not as effusive.  Minimax tells us Tessuti is “the only place to get great fabric in Sydney”.
  5. Organic Produce Cafe:  When you’re exhausted from all that shopping, mavens recommend you recharge at this cafe with “hearty, spicy meals that so happen to be free from the bad stuff”; BMZ says “this place is a gem”.
