Everyone seems to be under the pump now that it’s the lead-up to Easter. With that in mind, here are a few Customer Underground favourites, and insider tips, on the best places for a speedy Sydney CBD lunch. Do you have your own secret for workday lunches?  Add your review and share it with the Underground.

And speaking of time-saving, we have been loving booking restaurants online from the site.  Some Sydney CBD spots with online bookings are: Bacco, The Chophouse, Vivo Cafe, Element Bistro, Sepia, Azuma, the Museum of Sydney cafe.  Now, back to lunch:

  1. Guzman y Gomez: In the MLC and Australia Square foodcourts, this Mexican chain has attracted fans for the “superb” and “very authentic” tacos and “fantastic fast service”.  Marzipan says, “All I needed was a bucket-sized margarita!”
  2. Indochine: This Vietnamese spot is tucked away in the St James Arcade, next to David Jones – central, but yet quiet, and get high praise for the “excellent” food and “fast (AND I MEAN FAST) service”.  Another plus: “enough of a restaurant setting to have a proper lunch”.
  3. Postales GPO: For something a bit more upscale, mavens recommend heading to this Spanish place inside the GPO building with “big tables”, “plenty of light”, “incredibly quick” service and “fabulous tapas”. Higherthanexpectedcallvolumes says he’ll be back “with bells on”.
  4. Jimmy’s Recipe:  Slightly further South, in The Galeries Victoria, this Malaysian has a fan in vealmince, who says “this places ticks all the boxes for the CBD lunch crowd – delicious food, great value, and lightning-fast service”.  He also tells us it’s “the place for Hainanese chicken rice done to perfection” – yum.
  5. Sushi Choo at The Ivy: Super-maven Marzipan has tipped the Underground off about this sushi train that’s $20 per person from noon-1pm for all-you-can-eat – not surprisingly, she advises getting there “right at 12:00 because it fills up fast”.  Her conclusion?  “Cheap and Fabulous. What more can you ask for?”

What do you think of these spots?  Have other faves?  Do share...

Cheers,

Mel, Barbara, Rick, AJ & Murray

Thanks! Agree on the GPO. One

Thanks! Agree on the GPO. One of my fave reviews is by Marzipan, on the cafe in the GPO lobby: Maximus Atrium Cafe.  She totally captures the vibe.
