Good, not great
If there's a "control sample" for sandwich shops, it's the chicken schnitzel sandwich. Ranging from the superb (Collier's) to the re-heated and tasteless (most sandwich takeaways), it an accurate gauge of a luncheria's quality. Mine at Via Abercrombie was just on the driver's side of middle-of-the-road. Sure it was generous, and reasonably tasty, but certainly not worth unduly queuing for. Many rave about Via Abercrombie, but I am not one of them.
If you need a sandwich to be two meals, this is the place.
My friend and I went here about a month ago and didn't know what to expect except that it was good, per other people's recommendations. We walked in and I asked for a menu and the woman behind the counter said, "Don't worry honey, we will take care of you." That can be a little bit daunting to hear but it worked. Basically they tell you what they have and you choose all the fillings for your salad or sandwich. My friend and I decided to share a sandwich because they are ENORMOUS. I don't know how one person could possibly manage to eat it all in a sitting. We had the chicken schnitzel and it was delicious. I highly recommend this sandwich shop not only for the food but also for the experience.
