An apple a day takes all my pay
The Apple store on George Street is awesome! It's massive and they have everything. The whole store screams apple's clean design and makes you want to buy one of everything they have (which is dangerous) but the customer service here is great. The guys they have working here are really knowledgable, they aren't hardcore sales pushers but they are definitely able to help and talk to you about anything in non-tech speak which is handy. They could do with a few more bodies on the floor (which is a pretty common retail faux pas) but otherwise the staff are great.
Obviously places like J.B Hi-Fi they know their stuff and the people are always helpful but you can't help be sucked in by the atmosphere of the apple store. For apple fans it's great. At the end of a pay cycle, it's dangerous.
Better than Disneyland!
Speaking of love, I love the Apple flagship store in Sydney. So well designed! So many toys that glitter! Things to play with and accessories to covet. Bright colors and slick, beautiful packaging. People to help you figure out how to use all your new toys. Those folks at Apple know what they are doing, and this store proves it. So if you want to have a high-tech play-date, pop by the Sydney store in the CBD...Just be warned: you may walk out with a couple of small bags - and with $3,000 less in your bank account!
These stores are legend
The digital behemoth's flagship store seems like it's been with us forever now, but it wasn't always so. In the distant past Australia was more of a virtual outpost for Apple, serviced though a robust reseller network and its online store. That all changed in mid 2008 when the store opened in the Sydney CBD and "Applemania" was truly upon us. These stores are legend as a place to fully immerse yourself. But does it stack up? Well yes and no. There is no doubt that this IS the place to go if you want to play with any Apple gadget going - benches as far as the eye can see are laden with the stuff. If you are happy to dive straight in, you should be tinkering in no time, however, if you want in-depth help from the staff - well, you have to make a booking. Apple promote this as booking a personal shopper, which you can do online, or on site, but just don't expect an instant appointment for impulse purchases. Beyond shopping, you can also book in for free basic training sessions on most Apple products from booting up to editing your first movie, all great if that's what you're looking for. But for the experienced user? Well, I generally only visit when I want to eyeball a new product, but when it comes to buying, I still prefer to online.... call me old fashioned!
Great products, excellent service, brilliantly run
Hard to find anything to dislike about Sydney's flagship Apple Store. Attractive, easy to find products, lots of people to help, everyone seems to know the technical details and to be able to explain them well, prices are decent, lots of stuff to try out and play with, and the wait for a product or service never seems long. Lots of other brand and entertainment / tech shops could learn a lot. Telstra's display shops are a joke: much of the staff has no idea about technical issues, waits are often interminable, etc. JB Hi Fi may be cheap, but service is hard to find and staff under so much pressure to serve a multitude of customers you often don't get quite enough attention to make an informed decision. The Sydney city Apple Store, on the other hand, gets all of that right. The first and last place to understand what you're buying when it comes to Apple products, at acceptable cost and with amazing service and support.
Well, that was a melon scratcher
Went in to find out about getting an iphone, ipad and some way of locking an ipad to a table for a commercial display.
Came out with completely empty handed and rather bemused. I couldn't get anything at all (no info on preferred telco/vendor, no info on pricing). It took 6 attempts to get the girl to understand I didnt want to unlock a phone, I wanted to secure one to a stand.
Really pretty shop but I left feeling pretty empty and wondering why a shop would have this massive two level store and yet no one to sell me what would have been a couple of thousands worth of product.
Excellent
Excellent service and knowledgable staff
My partner bought his iphone from there and enjoyed playing with all the other 'toys' while he as there. So did I! It's nice to try before you buy.
