Great service, a social buzz and wonderful food in a funky setting
Things are changing for the better in ol' Redfern. Following recent make-overs of Redfern Street and nearby Redfern Park this innermost-city suburb is starting to challenge its better known neighbours Surry Hills and Glebe. Baffi & Mo cafe is at the vanguard of this transformation, delivering a combination of great service, a social buzz and wonderful food in a funky setting. Cruising down Redfern St on a Saturday morning, you can't miss the place, with what seems like dozens of happily conversing patrons spilling out from the cozy venue onto the footpath. Don't let the small size of the place put you off, the friendly staff always seem to find somewhere to squeeze you in. It's good for just a coffee, brunch or lunch. My personal favourite is the breakfast stack washed down with a steaming flat white.
I'd probably like it more if I didnt have to fight hordes to eat here!
Took my family here for breaky when everyone was visiting from the coast and it was quite nice. The food was good, coffee was great. I have to be honest and say the service was pretty slow but I wasnt sure whether that is because of the sheer volume of people packed in there and waiting for takeaways.
The place is so busy that I have only had the chance to eat here once because every other time I go the line is way too long. I enjoy soaking up the sunshine and surrounds at cafes so the outdoor spot was great, allbeit a wee bit small tablewise for five meals.
I would give this place another go... although I heard it recently changed hands?? Anyone in the know care to qualify?
Like the food, not the owners
Until recently, I had been eating here almost every weekend. The food is good, especially the scrambled eggs. Staff were always friendly. On the downside, the cafe is too small meaning that you often have to wait for a table, and the coffee isn't always great.
I haven't been to Baffi & Mo since it was bought by Hillsong. And I won't ever go back, unless the "church" sells up.
