Reviews

Tiny but great food, terrifically run and some great (and rare) Italian wines and beers

I didn't know til reading maven Lady Oscar's review that this place was from the Fratelli Paradiso team, but having eaten there, I'm not surprised.

It's tiny, without the space of Fratelli Paradiso, but very well run (I was part of the same group of 20 in an upstairs room and the food came quickly, as ordered and at the same time for everyone).

Food itself is standard modern Italian fare but superbly done: grilled seafood, pastas, grilled meats, and so on. You'll be hard pressed to order badly.

Best of all, being both a bit of a lush and a fan of Italian booze, is the variety of quite rare (for Australia) Italian wines and beers, some I'd never even heard of before.

in all, if you can get a seat (again, the place is small), it's a sensational addition to Paddington eating.

The perfect mix

The Fratelli Paradiso have done it again - achieved the perfect mix of uber-cool and honest to goodness Italian food (and being Italian my standards are high).  The real test of an Italian restaurant is in the gnocchi for me, and 10 William's were faultless - light, fresh, and just a little bit melt-in-the-mouth.  The tagliatelle al ragu, was from an authentic recipe, clearly slow cooked over many hours, but just as good was the light fresh touch of the prawn and fennel entree and an octopus salad.  All quite exacting for a place that calls itself a Bar.  Well to me it feels well beyond bar, in that magic area between enoteca, trattoria and bar that you find in Italy today.  The place is small and yet this adds to a glowy warm atmosphere which makes you never want to leave.  In fact saying it's small make me sound grouchy because they managed to serve a sit down meal for 20 of us in their upstairs 'mansarda', with grace and good humour.  Bravi ragazzi, 10 WIlliam e' un paradiso ;)

Lovely & intimate wine bar - with great service & nibbles too

I went to the bar at 10 William Street for the first time the other night, and loved it - they've managed to execute on all the things that make a little wine bar great: perfect location that's central, but on a quiet street; nice selection of wine (of course); delicious nibbles that are substantial enough to be dinner; a warm, buzzy vibe that feels current without being faddish; and to top it off, excellent service.  We were welcomed in and seated, the fellow at the bar was knowledgeable about the wines and made thoughtful suggestions, and appeared at exactly the right moments to ask if we wanted more to eat or drink.  And at the end of the evening, the bill was less that I expected. A big thumbs up from me!

Went with a girlfriend on a cold Sydney June Wednesday night.  It was a cosy fit and we had to wait for a short while for a seat but the service made up for it. We didn't feel rushed, the bar tender offered tastes of a variety of wines so that we could find the right vino for the mood.  The light bar food-- orancini, cheese plate, and olives were simple food done well.  Overall, a great place to meet up and have a chat.  Loved the neighbourhood wine bar feel.
