Essentially perfect, if expensive, romantic weekend getaway
You may need to extend the mortgage, but it's worth it - expect to fork out about $2000 for 2 nights here, including meals, a trip for each of you to the famous day spa, etc.
But it's incredibly restorative, and largely excellently run.
On a English country-style property, sit around 12 villas (two of them split level), an excellent modern Italian restaurant run by famed chef Stefano Manfredi (complete with one of the great Italian wine lists, whites especially good) and a wonderful day spa where anything from pedicures to full body scrubs and massages can be had (along with pricey but fine beauty products).
Breakfast is brought to you room or villa for you to prepare yourselves: home made granola, bangalow sweet pork bacon, organic eggs, etc.
If there's any complaint, it's that the management style is just a little too informal and inattentive for the fancy surrounds and prices.
But it's as good an upmarket guesthouse/boutique hotel as I've ever stayed at and it was a perfect anniversary trip.
