Where everyone knows your name!
We started going to Bitton 6 years ago and regularly go every week. The minute we arrive we get personal service from wait staff and the owner. The food is consistently good, the produce is excellent and there is always a sense of 'community' with the customers. A great place to meet, talk, eat and drink. Highly recommend the breakfast poached eggs and the steak for dinner.
Well worth it!
Great food and child friendly - what more can you ask for!
Great cafe in Erskineville. The food is great and freshly made and they have a kids' play room out the back so the kids can play while you sink your teeth into something delicious. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and don't mind serving up vegemite and toast for the kids. Great place to relax and have a coffee.
A great place for both adults & kids. Excellent food.
The One-Pan breakfast at Bitton has long been a favourite of mine. However, it had been a while since I visited and upon returning I found the extensions, including the addition of a playroom, made this cafe even more attractive. Partner & I regularly go on a weekend now with our 3 year old in tow. We stick to the tried and true, one-pan and can enjoy this while our daughter plays in the playroom.
Good service, good value for money and a nice outdoor area even suitable in winter. My only complaint would be that the children menu is somewhat limited, particularly for the fussy customer!
So so
Just moved to the area and thought we would try it out because it always gets such great reviews.
We found the service to be a bit of a shmozzle and not very welcoming (not that we wanted to be treated like Kings and Queens, but a smile and a hello goes a long way). We were given a table right next to the playroom in front of the fridges, even though there were empty two-seater tables up the front and outside. My partner got given the wrong coffee and was made to feel like he should have known better, even though it was their mistake!
Food was really good though, can't fault the food at all.
Another comment is, if you don't particularly like going to places where there are lots of kids, then this isn't the place for you. This place is very kid friendly, which is great and there should be more places like this in Sydney, but if you aren't up for that type of thing I would suggest going somewhere further up the road for a bite to eat.
I would have rated Bitton higher if the service had of been a bit better/friendlier and we weren't given the worst table.
Wouldnt go back
The first time i went there i fell in love, the food was great, service great, coffee great. However on return the experience was so unpleasant i wouldnt return. It was a busy Saturday morning and as we entered the waiter told us they were just clearing a table for us, yet ended up seating other people who came in after us in at that table. We ended up having to wait about 10 mins to be seated while others were seated before us. After this we were seated right next to the play room. Now i understand for mothers this room is great, however for us that have chosen not to have children yet, i dont call my saturday morning breakfast right next to a playroom exactly relaxing or enjoyable. I expect that if i go to eat im not surrounded by screaming kids near a play room. ( sorry mums) To add to this horrible experience my dish that i ordered was served with a thick layer of oil on it. Also, we got out meals before our coffee, now come one guys! So im sorry to rain on everyones parade but i found it quite a bad experience. Its really a shame because as i said previoulsy i really loved it after my first visit. Now i go to a place around the corner called Love Grub. They always have great service and the best coffee ever!
I've joined the fan club
I went to this cafe over the weekend on the hearty recommendations of several CU mavens, and was not disappointed. Great food, service, and set-up - including, for the parents out there, a playroom for the kids which made brekkie out with little kids somewhat less chaotic than it would have been otherwise. Hooray!
Yum
I only recently started eating here, have been past in the car so many times and thought I really must stop - finally I did. The food is great, and they have a cool selection of their own sauces and spices that you can buy. Plus, now I get e-mails with recipes from them. Its great.
