I'd moor here anytime
Boathouse, what a wonderful, unassuming Australian name for this fabulous restaurant. The food is remarkable and you enjoy it sitting above a calm, expansive harbour. It is romantic. You can hear your companion. It is a bit magical too with the water glinting the lights from across the way. Good date night rec.
Gorgeous setting, excellent food, very good service
The setting, over Blackwattle Bay in Sydney's Inner West is a stunner and the food here - mostly fish and seafood led by its internationally renowned snapper pie - is almost indisputably outstanding.
Only the service takes it from a five star to a not quite five star place: it's very pleasant, and professional, but occasionally slow, and haphazard (esp. when it comes to drinks - where one can wait a VERY long time - recently I waited over 30 mins! - for a cocktail.
It's a problem of inconsistency in staff training, quality, one suspects.
Beyond that, it's a must visit at least once for every Sydneysider who can justify the cost; every Sydney visitor in a similar position; and a great place for a special date or occasion.
