Beautiful campus - worth visiting if on the Gold Coast, Queensland
The combination of Alan Bond's name and the Queensland Gold Coast prejudiced me into thinking this was an awful, 80s-looking, garish shocker. But, on a recent business trip to Queensland, I had reason to visit the campus and was overwhelmingly surprised - it's a beautiful spot, and well worth stopping by to visit if in the area of Robina on the Gold Coast (about 75 mins from Brisbane).
Lovely grounds, decent cafes, a good campus bookshop and a pleasant, positive vibe about the place.
If you can get yourself to the Chancellor's office area of the campus, there's also some stunning Aboriginal art, donated, of all people, by Patrick Corrigan of the Patrick Stevedores / MUA dispute fame.
Just shows, once again, not to pre-judge anything or anyone.
