Beautiful views!
The in-laws were visiting from the States, and we wanted to do something unique...So we climbed the Harbour Bridge. It was a fabulously clear day with very strong wind, so it made for a breathtaking and blustery experience. The folks at BridgeClimb are very professional and efficient. They moved us through the prep area like clockwork. Step into your suits, put on your harnesses, here are your radios, here are gloves and hats and sunglass straps. Lockers and rain jackets. Everyone clipped in so there is no way you could ever fall off (you clip on at the beginning of the climb, and are always attached to the bridge). Our guide, Kyle, was knowledgeable about the history of the bridge and the surrounding areas, and he gave us the royal guided tour though our nifty radios as we climbed. We did the standard Bridge Climb because it is the only one (other two are Express Climb and Discovery Climb) that goes over the upper arch. So you get the best views the entire way up.
The total time for the standard climb is around 3 hours; two of those are on the bridge. It feels like quite a slow trip - you have to wait for everyone at each point for pictures etc. 14 people in each team on version of the climb. At first, it seemed a little exxy at $198 pp, but when you see the amount of gear and people that they need to run the business safely, I can understand the pricing model. It is a complicated operation. Conclusion: would definitely recommend it if you like views and outdoor activities. Unique way to see the city!
