My favourite cinema - comfy seats and nice glass of wine!
I love the Dendy cinema in Newtown. The seats are wide and comfy with drink holders. The movie selection is always a bit off beat from the main stream blockbusters that you get at other movie chains and best of all they serve good wine so you can truly relax into your viewing pleasure. After the movie you can also go to the CInque cafe for some great coffee. On Thursday mornings the Dendy has Reel Mum sessions where mums (and dads) can attend with their little ones and watch a movie without worrying about their baby's crying upsetting anyone else.

I love having the Dendy in Newtown, it's my local cinema, and even if it wasn't, I'd travel to go to it, it's my favourite cinema in Sydney.
Comfortable, well-run, cheap if you're a member (and membership is virtually free, you get a free ticket for joining and the joining fee is only a little more than the price of a ticket), good service, they have a bar, the list goes on..
It used to have a bit of a reputation for only showing "arthouse" films, but in recent years has become much broader. They don't show every mainstream release, but frankly, the ones they don't get tend to be the crap ones.
