Fort Denison including Fort Denison Cafe and Restaurant

I've lived in Sydney over 30 years, often near the Harbour, sailed on the Harbour many times, travelled by ferry more than I could ever count and as a kid has visited many other harbour islands (Clark Island, Shark Island, etc). Yet somehow I'd never visited the striking sandstone Fort Denison until a wedding a year or so ago.

It's a fascinating place, once occupied by a succession of caretakers and their families to whom a small museum display is commemorated. Beachcomber-types will find it intriguing to wander over the small area, seeing disused landing jetties and so forth. 

It's a glorious place for a function (accessible by ferry and / or water taxi). Best of all, it also now has a cafe/restaurant, doing decent mod Oz and cafe fare in a well-run operation with a pleasant environment.

For history hounds or those looking for a new Harbour experience alike, it's a must visit, at least once. I loved it.
