With gusto
Gusto is a local. It sits in pole position at fiveways. Fiveways makes great people watching on any day of the week. It's nothing extraordinary except in being a long standard in a suburb that has seen plenty of eateries come and go. Gusto's is nice for a chat, everyone knows how to get there. Don't expect silver service, just enjoy its wonderful local flavour.
Is it just me or is this place not quite what it was?
This was a cracker when it first opened a few years back, but on a recent visit with my 6 year old, I couldn't help but feel it'd lost something.
The food - upscale cafe fare - is good without being great; it's not cheap; it's professional and polite enough without being especially warm and friendly; and the layout is a little squished and ricketty.
In all, it's fine but not the 'worth making a special trip for' place it once was.
