Bringing proper customer service to Broadband in Australia
iiNightmare -- rabid at billing; not so good at installing internet connections
Argh! I was a returning customer to iiNet -- it turned into iiNightmare. They appear be very good at billing people; not so good at installing internet connections. Word of warning to anyone unlucky enough to get caught in their billing web of complexity; you can tell someone on the other line something and it will get dutifully recorded. However, no appears to read the notes, under any circumstances, ever. Until you get another month of bills with no service and complain. Again. The other annoying thing -- I've called iiNet atleast 20 times, easily. And each and every time I am routed to a message informing me the operators are busy -- for the next 1+ hour! If these guys would just get the connection made right the first time, they would not need to hire the call centre staff they obviously need. On the plus side, they do have 24 hour service. On the downside, the late night calls get routed to S. Africa where the call centre operators are very friendly but do not appear to have any ability to solve the issue online.
Good customer service is the key
No one really likes their telco or broadband providers but I have to give iinet their just do. They were recommended to me by a friend and I was drawn to them b/c of their Naked DSL service. Line rental fees seem idiotic to me. I've been with them 2 years now and their offering continues to improve but more importantly when I call I usually get my issues resolved quickly without too much drama. I can't vouch for other providers but I've been happy with my iinet service.
