Very good neighbourhood Japanese
The pluses of Iiza: good Japanese food, pleasant environment, efficient and friendly service, reasonable prices. The minuses? Well, I'm not sure I can list any. Iiza's on the border of four stars, but now, with just one visit under my belt, I don't feel strongly positive enough to upgrade them. I'll check back in after another visit sometime...
ps - We went on a Saturday, early, and had no problem getting in, but it was packed by the time we left - so if you're planning on eating at normal adult dinner time (as opposed to toddler dinner time), I recommend making a booking
Delicious Japanese cuisine, and great service! A must for sushi lovers.
Apparently it's pretty hard to even get a booking here, which says how good it is. The sushi, sashimi and other Japanese dishes are delicious, and the restaurant has a great feel - cozy but not cramped (and you never feel rushed even if they are busy). Very professional service, and nice table setups. This is the best Japanese I've had in Newtown thus far, and while it's not inexpensive, I felt the dishes were reasonably priced, especially considering the great atmosphere of the restaurant & amazing food. It is also located very conveniently in the heart of Newtown on King Street. A must visit for this type of cuisine!
