Same Same but Different
"Same Same but Different" happened to be my favourite t-shirt slogan the last time I was cruising the crazy streets of Mumbai. Chai wallas in India make the streets more welcoming, more friendly. And, you just can't get a proper cuppa chai in this town. Or so I thought.... then I followed the taxi drivers into Jaipur Sweets and ordered a cup. Atmosphere was unpretentious and the array of sweets somewhat dizzy-ing. I'll confess that I haven't sampled the sweets, just the chai which tastes, in this reviewer's humble opinion, just like in India. So don't think of all Indian restaurants around Sydney as same-old/same-old; this place is refreshingly different.
Authentic chai!
This spot has the delicious, authentic chai of India - strong, sweet, full of flavour. They've got good, inexpensive food too, including great, crispy dosa, served up looming on a plate with a side of curry. And a big range of Indian sweets. Fabulous. Only basic decor, but it's quite spacious. And I think there's wi-fi too (but not sure). It's near Central Station, in a generally unappealing area, but it's easy to get to, and I try to stop by whenever I can.
