Great coffee but service a little too slow and relaxed
I agree - good place, good coffee, but not quick, even when not that full, and service is a little random in terms of accuracy and attention to detail.
Spacious, quiet cafe with delicious praline spread
I'm normally suspicious of international chains as food & environment typically lack personality, but I've become a convert to Le Pain Quotidien: the baked goods are consistently good, the praline spread is to-die-for, and the Surry Hills shop is pleasant and spacious. The Surry Hills location is great for business coffees (lots of space and fairly quiet) - or for parent coffees (room for strolllers + ramp access). Only qualification to my generally positive view is that I've found the service to be spotty: usually very friendly & efficient, but occasionally disorganized.
