Delicious authentic food, astounding value
As context, my mum cooked some amazing Lebanese food in her time, hence I'm a bit picky. Lebanon and Beyond dishes up really good Lebanese food. I've eaten mostly vegetarian and the classics are all well executed. Husband loves the meat dishes too. Value is astounding - banquet is well-priced and the volume ensures a doggy-bag is in order. Service is relaxed, prompt and friendly. Definitely book - we've been known not to get a table at 6pm on Friday.
Good food, great value, really nice staff...and kids love it too.
This used to be a 'hole in the wall' local Lebanese but this popular restaurant recently doubled in size, taking over an adjacent property for a slightly more swish (but not too much so) additional dining room. We kinda still like the little room out the back of the kitchen, th with just a few tables and the sort of decor you'd expect from someone fond of their heritage.
We almost always go for one of the banquets -- three banquets for four adults is plenty! -- as they are terrific value. The Baba ganuj is some of the smoky best I've tasted, and I've tasted a few, the flat bread is warm and fresh and on tap. Son, 11, loves the flaky, crisp and fresh ladies' fingers from the chef's banquet. I love the fried cauli from the vegetarian banquet (yes, they have a banquet for you too ... we're not vegetarian but we mix and match because the veggie options are great too). Not everything's perfect - sometimes the chicken skewers can be a bit dry (the lamb are lovely) - but they hit the mark most of the time..
The banquet ends with a fabulous little black coffee and the freshest baklava I've had in a while.
As for service, I don't know where they get their staff from but they are such a naturally friendly bunch - students from the nearby UNSW maybe? It's not silver service but nothing's too much trouble and there's always a smile, even when they're really busy (which is most of the time - it pays to book...)
BYO adds to the value.
