Delicious organics, decent prices (for organics!) and brilliant service
This is very high quality organic home delivery. Fruit and veg are the stars - there is a fantastic weekly report letting you know what's best, what's local, what to miss; the range and quality is as good as any organic store, and you feel like you get to know the producers. While you can choose boxes of certain value, you can also choose what goes into your basket, which we prefer. There is also a wide range of meat, dairy, eggs etc which we also buy each week. And groceries - prices on these tend to be slightly less competitive than other stores so we don't often buy. The delivery service is great - can choose from a few times a week, very reliable, friendly guys who leave the boxes right where you want them. On the few occasions in the last few years when produce has been off, the family who runs the business credits the account - they are always polite and helpful. Very user-friendly website. This is a really special business.
Delicious fruit & veg, without the poison
My weekly delivery of fresh fruit and veg from Lettuce Deliver makes me smile. The company manages to pack a box full of seasonal produce from local farmers every week and bring it to my door for $40. The box also comes with a weekly letter with updates on farmers, weather, and folksy tips about how to get the most flavour from the assortment. They also differentiate between the various types of organic certifications – a minefield to be sure – though frankly I order the produce not for its certification but because it does taste better than the stuff on offer at Coles or Woolies. They’ve introduced me to a variety of fresh things I may never purchase myself (persimmons and silver beet for example) propelling me to try new recipes out of the rut of routine meals each week. I like that this is a small business and the employees seem to care. The deliveryman wears a black t-shirt that reads: “team lettuce.” He’s like a modern milkman with a mission. Even if you’re not that into organics, you might like that there are a team of farmers that benefit from this service as it brings more money to the growers and less to the big box mark-ups.
