Make sure you have water. You'll need it.
Catering for lovers, tourists and businessmen/women Lindt Cafe is definitely doing something right; it is nearly always packed but they usually tend to find you seats promptly. Without a doubt Lindt Cafe serves desserts and drinks, their savoury menu is perhaps not their strong point. Their cakes are in high demand so if you visit later in the day you may not have all their cakes available to order.
Lindt is well known for their chocolate so be prepared for the sugar overdose. Take my word for it, arm yourself with some water before you sample most of their desserts; the chocolate milkshake has enough sugar to last you for the week.
Overall a nice cafe but pricey. Well worth trying out.
Macaroons to dream about
A gem on Martin Pl
If that is possible. Since most of the other institutions on Martin Place tend to keep their gems hidden away. The cafe's range of desserts is simply delectable, and although on the expensive side not too badly priced (price is probably my main quibble with this place). But consider that you're eating some of the finest chocolate around, in a cafe on Martin Pl, with simply stunning interiors. It probably shouldn't be called a cafe anyway. Maybe 'Temple of Chocolate'?
Great hot chocolate. Good for business coffees.
For your cafe-sitting, chocolatey pleasure
This store has been over-capitalised for your cafe-sitting-pleasure: marble counters, brass ice-cream cabinets, leather banquettes, and imported swiss chocolate. The coffee comes in Lindt-blue cups, and the cappuccinos come with sprinkles of Lindt chocolate slivers! The hot chocolate is - of course - their signature drink. Highly recommended!
Great taste, but try not to choke on the price
Lindt is well known for producing the best chocolate, and the Cafe is no exception. If you are a chocolate lover, this may be your paradise. Almost everything offered has chocolate in it; this includes chocolate pizzas and (from memory) chocolate garlic bread.
However, the price which the Cafe charges for most of their products is at a significant mark up compared to what you see in the supermarkets.I recall chocolate balls being offered at over $100 per kilo, when the same could be purchased from the supermarkets for around half the price.
While it may be too expensive for a regular meal in the city, I guess it isn't ridiculous to consider a visit if you wish to splurge.
a bit overpriced but well worth a try
For PowerPoint, not the paper
I have to say that I am not a huge fan of the chocolate here - it's a bit too sugary for my taste. And I've found the coffee and food just OK. But I still think this is a great spot for a coffee meeting with your colleague/client/potential employee/networker as the tables are large enough for your laptop or powerpoint pack, and the location is unobjectionably central. A side benefit is the people-watching: an amusing mix of corporate types & tourists - both generally very loud.
