STAY AWAY FROM MIDAS WATERLOO
I received a promotional letter from Midas offering a $25 fuel card or 6 month free roadside assistance when purchasing a $149 Complete Service. When I took my vehicle to Midas Waterloo for a $149 Complete Service they refused to provide me with either option. Midas Head Office and Midas Waterloo franchise would not resolve my complaint, so I lodged a complaint with the Department of Fair Trading. The following Monday, Midas Head Office confirmed that I would be receiving the $25 Fuel Card to my residential address.
I had a few discussions with a Midas Waterloo representative about the promotional offer, an unnecessary fuel flush that was unexpectedly recommended (Midas Waterloo had done the fuel flush to my vehicle 6 months ago and were trying to con me into another) as well as other issues. Requests to escalate my complaints to the franchisee owner were repeatedly refused.
Moments after my last telephone discussion with Midas Waterloo, I received a text message from an unknown number. The text message stated "Ok sweet, please word up Jenny about this skank". My investigations revealed that 'Jenny' works for Midas Head Office and the 'skank' that he was referring to was me.
I immediately rushed to Midas Waterloo to retrieve my vehicle from their premises. I confronted the staff about the text message and expressed my dissatisfaction with their services. As a result, the apprentice mechanic repeatedly called me a "princess" and randomly expressed that he suffered from a mental illness and had spent time in prison. Both staff members laughed at me when I advised that I was prepared to take the matter as far as possible.
I strongly recommend that you be wary when taking your vehicle to Midas Waterloo. In MY experience Midas Waterloo appears to have a culture of disrespecting women, recommending unnecessary work for your vehicle and have difficulty honouring their promises.
