Superior food and prices
As a local I was so happy when this place opened. All I had to do was amble down the hill to good people and fab food. Soon however the prices were more than a cut above too and I didn't feel so good paying $20 plus for a cafe lunch of fancy sandwich and average coffee.
Then it started attracting a harbourside crowd and lets just say that being in such close proximity to that much botox put me off my lunch. I like the owners. I like the food. I don't like the coffee. I don't like the prices. Or the crowd so much. Meh.
V good food, nice atmos and staff, but My Lord you pay for it!
I'm surprised by another maven's review, trashing the service here. I breakfasted at Parc today (a Saturday morning) their most mentally busy time, and was impressed by the speed, efficiency and attentiveness (there was a mix up with my eggs, they came back to check if the yolks were runny enough!).
They were terrific with our 3 year old, providing his stuff quickly, a kids' menu, crayons, etc.
The food and coffee itself (eggs, french toast, etc.) was delicious, fresh, hot and great quality.
The only complaint then is the prices! $70 for two adults and a child - of which $23 was my eggs! (2 poached eggs = $10; bacon = $5!; spinach = $4; avocado = $4). Extremely steep (you'd normally expect to pay about $15 max for that, even in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, surely).
But you do get what you pay for I guess - and as I say, the food, service and atmosphere (all despite the place being packed out), were wonderful.
Coffee is reliably excellent and the food is pretty good. But the staff are uniformly terrible
Parc is always full, the coffee is reliably excellent and the food is pretty good. But the staff are uniformly terrible. They act like your presence is an inconvenience to their conversation & social time. The last time i went there, there were no less than three staff behind the counter all of whom ignored me for close to five minutes while they finished their chit chats. With the number of cafes in Sydney growing every week I don't think making good coffee is enough to recommend a place.
