More than music in Glenworth Valley

At my first Peats Ridge I found myself with some new friends in a tent crafting head-wear for the NYE parade with ears ringing from an afternoon of a surprise festival hit in the form of a dynamo troupe of Japanese brass. Suffice to say, PRF is not your ordinary music festival. Peats' music people curate hundreds of acts with a specialty in unexpected sounds. But it's not just music: the art, impromptu acts, and food(!) are delights. It's not always clear what is audience-based and what is planned. The vibe is worth the effort of getting out the old camping gear and heading up the coast from Sydney. I'll be going again because like any new year ritual, it starts with a resolution. For me, it is to plug into the creative part of myself and this place.

What an awesome festival!

The Peats Ridge Festival has such a wonderful energy, unlike any other event I've been to.  Set in the beautiful Peats Ridge valley, the festival has music, arts, family activities, and eco activities.  What makes it so special is the magic combination of a mix of different types and ages of people and the relaxed vibe.  And because there are lots of different activities in different places on the grounds, people are spread out and relaxed - there's no frenzied running around, rather, it's more like laid-back chai-drinking. Yes, it's definitely got a hippie flavour, but is something that'll appeal to any sort who doesn't mind getting their shoes dirty.  (And yes, I was there working for BoomVox, but that made it even better as I ended up getting the chance to chat with tons of people there, all of whom loved it!)  I'll be back next year, and next time, with my kids.
