Excellent cafe, lovely outside setting
I've been to Pieno a few times now and have enjoyed it every time, for the tasty food, good coffee, and most of all, the courtyard setting which is in the heart of Surry Hills yet just removed enough from the street noise to feel calm and pleasant. It gets lovely light too. Bonus is that it's right next to Thomas Dux, so you can combine a caffeine & brekkie fix with a quick shop.
Perfect cafe for a Sunday afternoon
Pieno has three excellent features. Firstly, it has a lovely outdoor area that catches the afternoon sun (or shade, if you prefer). Secondly, it serves food, including breakfast, all day, which solves that awkard Sydney problem of finding decent food between 3-5pm. Lastly the food itself is very tasty. I had the big breakfast, which was good, and Mrs DOH had the breakfast bruschetta with eggs, cheese and prosciutto, which was even better. Pieno was perfect for a sunny Sunday afternoon.
