Beautiful setting, excellent food
Great service
This is a 100% premium spot, from the location to the food, service, and prices. And it is a lovely dining experience, calm, quiet, refined. Each time I've been, I've been very impressed with the food (seafood focused, as higherthanexpectedcallvolumes points out) - particularly the entrees. My kingfish carpaccio was delicate and combined beautiful, bursting flavors, and hubby's crab lasagne was fabulous (he definitely won the ordering competition with that one). Only flaw in the meal was an underdone soufflé, but I found the meal otherwise superb and recommend Pier for a romantic, parental, or professional lunch or dinner.
Maybe you need to really love seafood to love this (and I don't)
I'll be first to admit that I may not be key market for this very famous, beautifully positioned upscale restaurant on the water at Rose Bay - after all, their big thing is reportedly great fish and seafood, neither of which I'm a big fan of. I can speak only of the steak, which I've never had cooked well there. Desserts are, admittedly, excellent, and service is extremely good and attentive.
But it's very pricey - my guess is you need to really love that fish/seafood to get the most of this place, which I didn't.
