Great working lunch spot
Working lunch. Papers. And more papers. Colored highlighters and tabs and more paper. We were looking for a place to spread out while gourmet snacking and Postales was the place to be! Big table, plenty of light streaming down from the Atrium. We ordered the mushrooms (delicious!), the cured spanish ham, a dish of curried spinach, chickpea and cauliflower. Tasty food, but remember to order at the bar - we sat mired in paper, waiting for service for a while. All in all, lunch was $120, which isn't that bad (I'm told) but there wasn't that much food, so beware if you are really hungry. Two glasses of wine each made the work fly buy, and we were def. creative! Will definitely be back to Postales!
Fabulous Tapas, impressively quick, excellent service
You know the situation. It was a busy Thursday night in Sydney's CBD, made more so by not one but two Sydney Writers' Festival events being held at nearby City Recital Hall (Angel Place).
So almost every restaurant in the area that you'd want to eat at was full or booked out (if you could even make a booking!).
We chanced it with this quite empty Spanish place inside Martin Place's GPO building and were blown away. Standard type but incredibly delicious tapas (chorizo, marinated steak, jamon, chickpea/spinach/cauliflower salad, calamari), excellent cocktails, whiskeys and Spanish beers (pricey but rare and splendid).
Service was incredibly quick (they had us in and out in 45 mins) and very snappy and friendly as well.
The layout is a little odd: a bit dark/red with curtains that I worry may obscure the place from its possible customers.
But I loved it, will be back with bells on, and can heartily recommend to others looking for a tasty, but slightly upscale lunch in the Sydney CBD.
