Not cheap, but the taramosalata is the business
Formerly jones the grocer (complete with no capital letters), PPL&D remains from the jones the grocer school. That is, upscale food and generic booze at upscale (not generic) prices. Having said that, the deli section sells an excellent range of cheeses and the best taramosalata I've had in Sydney - and I consider myself something of a mashed pink fish egg connoisseur.

I confess that I come here for one reason only: the fantastic taramosalata. That's not to say the other elements aren't good - as far as my non-wine-aficionado self can tell, the wine selection is decent; and the other deli items are good (olives, dips, cheese), though expensive. But the tara is the star of the show and makes this a must-stop place whenever we have people over.
Decent wine for fair prices
I like the place, I manage to get good wines for fair prices, their wine specials are very decent, and they have a corner shop (John the Grocer) that serves awesome cheese and other goodies. But for Chris sake, where does the staff attitude come from???? Worse than a NYC cabby...
