Sappho Books and Cafe

I stopped in to Sappho while out in Glebe one afternoon to grab a quick bite to eat and ended up spending over an hour with my boyfriend sipping wine and enjoying a meal in the cozy courtyard out the back. I didn't know what to expect from this cafe but was pleasantly surprised by the food, atmosphere, and general concept of the shop and eatery. I love the abundance of great books, and couldn't leave the store before having a thorough browse through the rows of shelving. Heaps of variety in topics and print, and I was able to find a "souvenir" before leaving. We were there for the lunch menu and the food was your typical gourmet cafe sandwiches, but the dinner tapas menu looked divine and I will most certainly be returning to give that a try! Great spot for a casual relaxed evening or afternoon with friends (or a good book!)
