Surry Hills Village Grocer

Call it Surry Hills Shopping Centre, but its always going to be Redfern Mall to me... Regardless, if you are a Redfern or Surry Hills local this place is just the bomb! Forget the fancypants "cost me a kidney" supermarkets up Crown st, these guys serve fresh, tasty produce at great prices and always, always with a smile and in a very down to earth, helpful way. 

The deli section and the cheese fridge are a nibble queen like me's best friend. The fresh orange juice is always consistently tasty. The fruit and veg is pretty good quality and always good prices, the continental breads and added jars, pastas and dry good pantry items always hold a treasure or two. They also have herbs, lovely fresh cut flowers and staples like bread and milk if you don't feel like fighting the hordes at the supermarket. And the little quiches, salads, lasagnes and so on are great "grab and go" dinner solutions. 

What makes them so very awesome is the customer service. The guys and gals who work there are super helpful and know their stuff. If you are unsure of what meat to buy from the deli they are not adverse to letting you taste a few things so you make the right choice. The nicest thing is though they are always really nice, ask you how your day was and actually care about the answer and are just genuinely great customer service and really polite. 

I'm a regular and can say I have never had a poor experience either produce or service wise. They are just grand!
