Fresh, delicious food and a friendly vibe
I try to get to Sushi Fusion in Randwick once a week, sometimes with the kids, who love the mini tuna rolls, crab claws, fried chicken and (OK, they're Thai) prawn moneybags. It's also great for 'me' time as it's the sort of place you feel really comfortable dining on your own.
The music is a bit jazzy, lifting the mood, the food is always really fresh and is prepared in front of you, and the staff sing out their greetings and farewells in Japanese as you come and go.
I have a frequent-sushi card, which gets me a free plate every few visits, but it's great value anyway.There's 10 per cent off at lunchtime and for takeaway.
New favourite is the unusual sounding but delicious fried banana rolls - banana, red bean paste and melting white chocolate wrapped in something like a wonton paper and fried. Not as healthy as the sushi and sashimi itself, but what the heck. (Son loves the creme brulee, but sadly the green tea/black sesame ice-cream machine died...)
You can order from a menu as well as choose from the train, and they provide boxes to collect takeaway from the train.

Sushi Fusion is dotted around a couple of locations (Bondi Junction & Sydney CBD) but their Sushi train restaurant in Randwick is how I prefer to roll. Sushi Fusion has one of the widest varieties of sushi and sashimi I've seen this side of Tokyo and what really sets this place apart is that it can all be enjoyed with a fully imported Asahi - a rarity in Sydney these days.
