Thumbs up
This is a welcome addition to the usual suspects that litter most food courts. The Met Centre was never my favourite lunch venue, but Taste has given me a reason to visit. The baguettes are tasty and the range of fillings good. Since I try to avoid chicken that's not organic / free range, I steer clear of the portugese chicken offering, although it looks pretty good. Thumbs up all round - I will return. (As a digression, what's the big deal with Angus beef? It's a marker of the success of the marketing campaign -- hats off to McDonald's here - that a place like Taste feels it worthwhile to offer a special "Angus roast beef" baguette ... which, from what I could tell, was basically the same stuff you get at any two-bit deli, and probably the same stuff Taste offered last week. This particular piece of marketing puffery surely has a limited shelf life...)
Tofu baguette is delicious!
I love Taste. They also have a cafe down in the Westpac precinct and I used to walk 10 mins to get there. Now they've moved into the Met Centre too. Really yummy French Vietnamese baguettes with delicious fillings and sauces. The bread is baked onsite every 15 mins so the baguettes (rye, brown or white - I get the rye) are always super fresh. I'm told the lemongrass beef is yummy too. They're also (relatively) cheap and the baguettes are big. Win win.
Sooo delicious
I am so excited to have discovered a great place for Vietnamese baguettes in Sydney! If you have never had one: they are a fresh baguette filled with some kind of protein + Vietnamese salad of carrots etc. + dressing. And Taste does a superb version: the bread is perfectly fresh - crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside; the fillings are fresh and the salad crisp; AND it's very well-priced. I can't wait to go back.
