Great food, very cheap lunch special, and fast service!
Favourite, Great value
This thai restaurant is a hot spot in Newtown, especially during lunch. A lot of uni students eat here because of the $6 lunch special (which is a huge portion of delicious, quality food), but you will find it filled with every type of customer and busy during dinner as well. It's been so successful that they've opened Thai La-Ong 2, just a few doors down. Take away is also very quick, and a good option if you have to grab and go.
Service is extremely fast and they are very polite, however it's not a "fancy" restaurant. The room in simple, and tables are fairly close. With that said, it's perfect for casual dining. You can get in and out at lunch in about 30-40 minutes. If you enjoy thai food, you'll love this place.

If you go upstairs at thai la ong, the atmosphere is a bit more rowdy - perfect for pree drinks for a night out!
