Should be great but nothing quite gels
This very handsomely fitted out modern bar/pub/restaurant should be a killer. But nothing quite works. The main bar isn't well run, with limited staff and drink options other than beer (eg. bad whiskeys, etc.) The restaurant's food is mostly good but the service is notoriously random, presided over as it is by young, too often clueless babe-ettes. The outdoor beer garden area is physically great, but often dominated by too loud bands or music. And the upstairs bars are a crowded, loud, nightmare much of the time. A great space, a little wasted.
UPDATED REVIEW - NOT SO Fantastic food
I went to the Tilbury last week-end and was sorely disappointed. The food was mediocre and the service was horrendous. I am not sure if the usual chef was on holiday but it sure felt like it. I am definitely not going back anytime soon.
OLD REVIEW - Not only will you get a great meal but you might even see a few b-list celebrities. Last time I was there I saw two of the guys from Packed to the Rafters. The Tilbury may have a tendency to be a scene but with all the outdoor areas you can escape it and observe. The food is fantastic and the service is usually quite efficient.
