It's like a magic tree for music and film lovers!
I restrict my browsing in Title to once of month because I always come out with something and having to make a Sophie's Choice with several other items.
From Jim Jarmusch boxsets (drool!) to crazy Afro-Brazilian funk jazz (as cool as that sounds!) Title is simply awesome. I trust the counter dude's selection and he has put me onto some great stuff like female blues artist Ruthie Foster and swingin' Johnny Otis and more.
This is my version of a kids candy shop. All things exciting, all things easily plucked from the wall and easily finding their way into my bag. The only thing I have to worry about is that I do tend to overspend here because the quality is so good. Luckily though, the buyers remorse just doesn't happen as I have never bought anything from here that didn't end up well loved.
Ah Title. You rock my world.
A hip yet retro CD shop
I took a stroll up Crown St on Sunday afternoon with no fixed destination in mind. Title ended up being it. It drew me in with a comfortingly old-school value proposition: a small but select range of CDs. For one who blew way too much money on music in the '90s (or was it the rest of it I wasted?), this was a real retro pleasure. Unfortunately CDs weren't arranged alphabetically, which made browsing somewhat random, but there was an interesting range of genres, from rock through funk, blues and rock to classical. I ended up buying a 10CD classical compilation for $65, by a bloke named Emil Gilels. Turns out he's one of the great pianists of all time (I did not know this), which indicates that Title's proprietors either have privileged access to cut-price Soviet legends, or have chosen their stock judiciously. I favour the latter. Recommended.
Something eccentric and stuff you've been always meaning to get
If you need entertaining, or a gift for someone else who does, come to Title, on Crown Street, for books, music and films classic and eccentric. Stuff that you've always been meaning to get around to is here, along with other things you've never heard of but that you should. Knowledgeable staff are always happy to give you an impromptu review of whatever it is you're thinking of taking home with you.
Excellent browsing opportunities
It's great to see a shop like this still apparently thriving. A great range of esoteric CDs, arthouse DVDs, books, etc. Enthusiastic staff.
