T(life) Telstra Store - Melbourne Airport

I got so close to an iphone 4 this time I could almost taste it. I was early for a flight at Melbourne domestic airport. There was, for once, no-one else waiting for service at the Telstra 'T(life)' store. There were 3 people on duty doing nothing. Did they have an iphone 4 in stock? (Almost no-one ever does). Yes, they had one - the 32GB I was looking for. Could I re-contract from my existing 3G iphone on a maximum Telstra plan? They were doubtful, but were prepared to check, and probably could work something out with me.

All we needed to do was to check my account details on Telstra's intranet system. BUT WAS IT WORKING? OR WAS IT SO SLOWED DOWN THAT IT KEPT TIMING OUT? You guess which... They tried, I waited, we both sighed... and then I had to go catch my plane.

I wanted to give Telstra more money. The staff, otherwise draining their employer's money by doing nothing but still earning a salary for the afternoon, wanted to take my money and give it to Telstra. Telstra made sure it couldn't happen. What is wrong with this picture? Anybody?
