Service is most important, especially when you don't know what you are looking for.
Books are a university student’s best companion in tackling the piles and piles of essays and exams that they have to complete over each semester. Where better to find these books than the main bookstore on campus, the UNSW Bookstore. They pride themselves in stocking over 20,000 titles that ranges not only in academic books but also fiction, classics, cooking, biographies and travel books.
Another thing that students love about this store is the 10% discount that can be received on the majority of books and software, giving them an appealing and competitive advantage that has earned them the title of ‘Australia’s Tertiary Bookseller of the Year’. This store is also regarded as one of Sydney’s leading independent academic stores with a large range of specialist titles.
But wait it gets better. You can also
browse and order online, as well as providing an easy search by typing in the
code for a course you are studying or searching by faculty. If you are looking
for something specific staff are more than happy to order it in for you as well
as helping you find the right books for
each course.
In store staff are friendly and approachable, that can guide you what you are looking for. Make recommendations and assist you with the never-ending questions that students face. They also carry a range of UNSW exclusive giftware that any UNSW student would love to receive and proudly treasure. The UNSW Bookstore keeps in touch with its customers by circulating a newsletter, which keeps you up to date with news, events and latest book releases.
The bookstore is located on the lower ground floor, West Wing of the Quadrangle Building and is open from 9am – 6pm on weekdays, 10am – 2pm on Saturdays and has extended hours during busy periods.
Gotta love a well priced, well setup, well stocked bookshop!
Ducked in here the other day for a bo-peep. I have to say its one of the best campus bookshops I have seen in a long while. Actually, its probably one of the most kick butt bookshops I have seen in a while- esp if like me, you prefer sticking your teeth into some non fiction on a regular basis.
Prices are great, which is what you hope to find considering how expensive it already is to be a student. The layout is by study section, again, a great uni trait. I really dug the sociology and philosophy sections especially - great mix of classic and modern day texts. I found a book I have had all sorts of trouble trying to track down called "The Bogan Delusion" sitting with a bunch of copies... and it was below the RRP (by a couple of bucks but hell, that was a coffee on the way home I enjoyed!) and not extra as some other places had asked for to "order it in".
Fiction was robust, their crime was strong in both true and the other kind and the vampire stuff wasn't just wall to wall Twillight- it even included essayists discussing Twillight! Ha!
All in all, I will totally be back... OR totally online checking them out considering you can also order books on the web. Haven't done that part yet and the site does look a wee bit clunky and not that user friendly, but that, I suspect, will be a separate review!
Well done UNSW Bookshop- I love ya work and will be back quicker than a fat kid on a free donut promotion no doubt.
