Village rooftop is bloody awesome!
I was lucky enough to go the a theatre function last year on the Village rooftop and I have to say it was bloody awesome! The service was fast and friendly, great selection of drinks and the view... good grief, it's just amazing!
The wine list is awesome- not a single crap wine in site, and a lot of really wonderful Barossa Valley goodness by bottle or glass.
The food is pretty yummy and focuses on being yummy and a real treat as opposed to quantity over quality. I will totally be back!
Great spot for a Monday night nip
Met a group of fabulous gals at the East Village Hotel in Darlinghurst. Lovely spot. Cute décor and build-out. The bartender was patient and filled our glasses generously. We shared a charcuterie platter with toast points that was divine, and their pesto sauce was delectable. I had a very reasonably priced sav from NZ at $7 a glass, and some of my drinking buddies loved their cocktails. It was a little quiet, but what do you expect on a Monday night? All-in-all, good spot.
A classy pub
The Village has been newly done up, and is under new ownership, and now hits a nice balance of neighbourhood pub and trendy bar. The interior has classic pub tiles, but a spacious and clean feel; and the bar has the same blend - beers on tap, but tasty cocktails too; chips & dips, but delicious charcuterie too. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, I was impressed. I'll be back!
Great pub, great food
Fantastic character-filled pub just off Oxford St. The ground floor bar has a great ambience (although get in early on weekends as it gets v. crowded), and the outdoor seating is great too.
Oh, and the restaurant upstairs has INCREDIBLE food - definitley many, many steps above normal pub fare - and much better than some food experiences I have had in restaurants charging double the price, and the service is attentive and cheerful. Great value for money to boot. Impressive? Absolutely.
