A Potts Point Favourite
Yellow is one of the East's best known cafes. I have been popping in to treat myself to take away lunches or goodies for years but only went to a sit down lunch the other day. The Menu is far more varied than your traditional cafe, I enjoyed a delicious vine ripened tomato salad with pommegranate seeds, walnuts and fetta crumbled throughout. The atmosphere is more upmarket sititng down then taking-away and the prices reflect this change. Essentially it's a two in one - delicious deli and chic cafe - and I can now recommend both for top of the line experiences.
Inspired salads and desserts
This place sits appropriately on the ground floor of a prominent yellow building in Potts Point. Truly, I'd go back (and often do) just for the rhubarb crumble. I also happen to like strolling through the art gallery next door. Yellow is serious about its food but friendly in its service. It's a pricey cafe but so is everything in the postcode, so don't count that against it.
Very good food and delicious desserts
The food at Yellow - lots of pastas and salads - is very good, but the desserts are true stand-outs. Desserts are also conveniently sized & packaged so that they can be taken away if you're feeling like treating yourself, or pretending to your dinner party guests that you're an expert cake-maker. Be sure to get a truffle while you're there: melt-in-your mouth chocolate with passionfruit...amazing. BTW, this is a 'proper' lunch place - i.e., real food, not sandwiches (and prices to match) - although the atmosphere is more casual/cafe-like.
