Good brunch + big tables so you can read the paper

Efficient, if not warm & fuzzy, service; good food; and great tables. Although almost always crowded, the wait for table at breakfast/brunch is usually short, and once seated, it's a great breakfast experience as the food is yummy and the tables are big enough to eat & read the paper at the same time (even if dining with others). Service is good - orders are taken quickly and are accurate, food arrives promptly - but isn't necessarily warm. I think there's a bit of an 'insiders/outsiders' vibe to the service, as attentiveness and friendliness seems ever-better each time we go and are greeted as regulars. BTW: in warm weather, it's a decent place to bring kids, as there's generally room to park a stroller next to the table.

Buzzy Potts Point fave in a bacon sandwich form slump

Zinc used to be my number 1 weekend breakfast spot. The big tables, ample supply of newspapers, good coffee and delicioius bacon sandwich kept myself and Mrs DOH coming back week after week. Kids now make our visits rarer, but I squeezed one in today. The coffee is still good, and the big table saw me through 31 pages of sports section, but I'm sad to say the bacon sandwich has lost its zing. I don't know if they changed the recipe, but it's not the same as in its beetroot and mayo-infused glory days (c. 2003-08). Harsh perhaps to mark down from 4 stars to 3 on the back of one dish, but when you eat that dish every time it's material! I still like Zinc though, including its unusual combination of speedy, but diffident, service.
