Magpie Cafe review by BMZ

Quaint, stylish, and delish

We took a pit-stop in the darling town that claims one of Australia's longest-running jails. Even the jail looks nice. The town is full of deli-cafe-picnic provision options but Magpie beckoned. Inside, the decor was themed with empty bird's nests on all of the tables. My little companion kept demanding "where's the birds?" Her mind was otherwise distracted when our order from the generous dessert bar came. We selected a couple biscuits with our high tea but you could also have selected among the dozen other options including a dark chocolate creation in the shape of, yes you guessed it, a bird's nest. The only adventure I would be wary of when visiting Magpie is a trip to the loo. Discover the quaint delights yourself. Otherwise the place is a perfect diversion from the highway and I recommend it. Also, Magpie offers dinner and lunch as well, but our pit-stop did not coincide with one of the meal times. It did coincide with a trip to the neighboring wine shop where we picked up a wonderful southern highlands wine for a bird's song.
